There’s something about the soft coziness of felt that makes me think of fall.Though I do like the look of neutral fall decor, sometimes I want color.Especially with all the deep rich colors of autumn.A while back I made a prettyfelt flower wreathwith fall colors. This year I decided to make a fall leaf garland for our mantel.

How to Make a Fall Leaf Garland
For this fall leaf garland DIY start by printing out the leaf template above on cardstock and cut out each leaf.
Then trace the leaf patterns on pieces of felt and cut them out.
Next, hot glue each leaf onto a floral wire stem in the center, covering the entire length of the leaf and leaving enough wire for wrapping.
Measure out how long you want your garland and cut the sisal rope to length.Hold it up to the mantel and drape it the way you want it to look.(I always give myself a little extra just in case.)
Then start at one end and wrap a leaf onto the sisal rope.Add another leaf overlapping the previous leaf slightly.Continue adding leaves until you fill-up the garland.
You can overlap them as tightly or loosely as you want.Keep in mind the tighter you overlap, the more leaves you will need to finish the garland. If you have a long mantel as we do, that can be a lot of leaf tracing and cutting.
Once you have the garland hanging on the mantel you can bend and twist the leaves to make it look more natural and full.
It’s so festive.I love it!
